Alternatives to Water That Are Keto-Friendly

When you go on a keto diet, there are a lot of resources out there for telling you what not to eat or drink. For the most part, when it comes to what to drink, it seems like you are pretty restricted to water.

Going keto (dietpillreviews.com/what-is-the-keto-diet) means that you are cutting out carbs to as much extent as possible. Carbs, on a basic level, or sugars of some sort. So that rules out a lot of different kinds of beverages. Juices and sodas are loaded with sugar, and it’s also the most frequent addition to coffee or tea to make things sweeter.

If you are on the keto diet and getting tired of drinking nothing but water, don’t fret – there are other options!

What Can You Drink on a Keto Diet?

When you’re on the keto diet, you are generally keeping your carb intake to 10% or less of your daily caloric intake.

For the average person to maintain a state of ketosis, this typically means consuming no more than 20-30 grams of carbs per day.

Drinking just a couple carbonated sodas or glasses of juice can get you to that limit already. So what can you drink instead if you’re tired of drinking water all day? Try some of these alternatives below to change things up, keep you in ketosis, and give your taste buds something different.

Diet or Reduce Sugar Juice

Juice generally is loaded with sugar and carbs, but they do make low-sugar and diet varieties. Be sure to read the nutritional label to see how many carbs there are per serving, and stay under your daily limit. Don’t ruin your ketosis on a glass of juice!

Coffee or Tea, Unsweetened

Can you drink coffee or tea while on a keto diet? Of course, you can — BUT — make sure you aren’t adding any sugar to it. Unsweetened coffee and tea served black is OK when you are going keto. However, just like you shouldn’t add sugar, you should stay away from adding milk as well. Instead, go with a heavy cream which is low carb (less than one gram in a tablespoon) and also gives you fat content in your coffee.

Diet, Sugar-Free Soda

Just like with juices, sodas, in general, are loaded with sugars. However, as you probably know, many distributors make sugar-free and diet versions. It is OK to drink diet soda while going keto, however, it should be done in moderation. Diet sodas contain artificial sweeteners instead of sugar, which makes them zero carb.

Be careful, however, in that the artificial sweeteners may trigger food cravings. Don’t let that can of diet soda lead to ruining your diet. You can also try a diet pill to help suppress your appetite.

Whole Dairy Milk

You can drink milk while going keto, but make sure that it is whole milk so you get the high-fat content. Also, this is another drink that should be consumed in moderation. One cup of whole milk has nearly 12 grams of carbs. Right there you’re nearly at half of your daily allowance. It can be a good change of pace, just don’t consume too much.
