If you’re into bodybuilding or any kind of fitness, it is important that you follow a strict diet and exercise regimen and stick with it. If you aren’t keeping track of what you eat, what kind of training you are doing, and documenting your results, you are missing out on valuable information that can help identify rooms for improvement. It also helps you to keep track of successes for motivation.
These days, with smartphones so ubiquitous, of course, there is an app for just that! Check out these fitness and bodybuilding apps I use regularly.
Best Apps to Use For Fitness
There are so many of these kinds of apps on the market, but these are some of my favorites to track my progress and stay on top of my goals.
MyFitnessPal
There are so many different apps on the iTunes and Google Play markets that help you record your calories and nutrition, but this one is actually worth downloading and even paying for a premium membership. The biggest reason why I say this is because it has the largest database of foods, making it easier to input your daily food consumption and not spending time tediously entering your nutrition information.
You can also enter a calorie goal and use it to track your progress, with tips on how to reach your goals every day. Regardless of whether you are trying to slim down or bulk up, that is valuable information that can help catapult you to reaching your objective.

JEFIT
The easiest way to have the most efficient workouts is to keep on top of what you’re doing. That way you know where you’ve been, and where you want to go. With this app, you can keep track of the exercises you perform as well as the weight you lifted and how many reps you made. This is useful because now you have a benchmark of what you’ve been able to do before, and you can see your progress over time as well as adjust your next workouts upwards as you get stronger.
It also has a set timer, a calculator for your one rep maximum, an exercise database with tons of workout ideas, and place to keep body metrics like BMI, measurements, weight, etc.

RunKeeper
So now that you’re able to keep track of your diet and your weight training, what about our cardio exercise? That’s where RunKeeper comes in handy. Using GPS, it can track your runs, bike rides, hikes, jogging… any distance-covering activity that you partake in. It will show you the number of calories you burned at the end of your session. It also keeps a log of your past sessions, so you can see your progress over time and challenge yourself to push farther or faster the next time out.
Your Own Gym
On another page, I talk about hotel room workouts when you don’t have access to a gym or have any travel fitness equipment. This is the perfect app to supplement that situation. With a huge database of bodyweight-only exercises, all you need is a little floor space to get a nice muscle burn. Do these anytime, anywhere, so you don’t miss any sessions!
