In addition to their lack of nutritional content, you also run the risk of overeating these kinds of items. You think to yourself, “Oh, these are low-fat, I can eat these.” That leads to overeating of an already poor food choice, causing damage to your diet goals.
Fasting Helps Lose Weight Quickly
While it is true that weight can be lost by following a fasting schedule (like with the Daniel Fast), it is not a healthy route to take. Starving your body is never a good idea. You should have a consistent flow of nutrients and fuel to keep your body healthy and strong. In the end, a lot of the weight that is lost during fasting ends up being muscle instead of fat. Keeping a musculature is important for a healthy body, as well as for burning more calories. If you really want to lose weight, stick to a normal meal schedule, but make healthier food choices.
This Diet Worked for a Celebrity, So It Will Work For Me
Be careful of any fad diet that you see blow up on social media or otherwise. A lot of fad diets are unsafe and promise results that are not very realistic. The images and messages you see are carefully crafted and often have a hidden agenda (mostly to make money). Diet Sodas Are OK

Think about it – what is going to be better for building a healthy body – 500 calories of a lean protein, or 500 calories of a decadent cake? You are what you eat. Don’t just look at the caloric value of something. You also need to pay attention to the nutritional value.
You Can Eat All You Want as Long as It’s Healthy
This ties into the previous point, just the inverse. Just because the calories you are consuming are made up of healthy food choices, that doesn’t mean that you can go nuts and overeat on these kinds of foods. The formula for losing weight is to be consuming fewer calories per day than what you burn off (metabolize). With a caloric deficit, you will lose weight. An extreme example here, but if you eat 3,000 calories of fruits and vegetables in a day but lay around and not burn any calories, those calories have nowhere to go and you’ll gain weight!
Nutrition Bars are Nutritious
This falls under the same trap of foods that are labeled low/no fat or diet. Just because it has all the marketing and packaging of being a nutritional bar, that doesn’t necessarily make it a nutritious choice. Read the ingredients label carefully on products like these. A lot of times they are loaded with sugars. One bar can make up your total recommended sugar intake in a day. Some of these are no different than candy – just with different marketing. That’s not to say there aren’t healthy options in this category – you just need to do your research.
Diet Pills are Dangerous
Obviously, given the name of this website, I have to touch on this topic. Like with any kind of dietary supplement, there is a danger if you take more than the amount recommended. Otherwise, there is safety in taking diet pills. They can provide a tremendous boost to your weight loss goals by raising your metabolism, curbing your appetite, and giving you more energy.
