How Do Celebrities Lose Weight So Fast?
You may think there is some unfair advantage in this process, but the reality is, they have access to the same resources we do. Sure, having deep pockets can go a long way in helping pay for supplements, one-on-one training, and top of the line organic foods, but like anything, there are always ways to cut corners and modify these things to fit into any budget.
I’ll go over a series of success stories enjoyed by many celebrities over the years to show you just how simple changes can lead to huge gains – err – losses.
Phil Mickelson Drops 25 Pounds to Keep Golf Game Strong
A BusinessInsider article on the famous golfer revealed that the famous golfer took on a diet plan similar to LeBron James back in 2014, after having a lackluster season on the PGA Tour.
At the time of embarking on this diet and workout regime, Mickelson was 44 years young. He started his days at 5:30 a.m. in San Diego alongside his trainer, Sean Cochran. The goal was to become faster and stronger so he could generate more clubhead speed and shed some weight after having a down year on the tour. His weight loss goal was 2o pounds.
The workout regimen was varied, and not overly strenuous. It included self-massage with rollers, stretching, a warm-up, power training with plyometrics, core training, and total body strength training. Golfers obtain a lot of their swing from their core, so having mobility as well as strength is always a plus. There isn’t a huge need for ridiculous power numbers here, being nimble is the key. Let’s be real, how many bodybuilders are on the PGA Tour?
The key to Mickelson’s plan was his diet. For this part of the plan, he went on a mostly Paleo Diet. This diet is all about cutting carbs. The science behind cutting carbs is explained on this page for anyone looking to delve into why this works so well in a weight loss effort.
A sample breakfast plan consists of eggs with broccoli, peppers, and some yam. He’s entirely cut out processed foods as well as dairy.
Overall, a Paleo diet will mean you eat a lot of veggies, proteins, some fruits, and nuts.
Mickelson not only conquered this diet plan by losing 25 pounds, but he also got his golf game back up and in 2018 he continues to be a major force on the PGA Tour.
Other celebrities who are supporters of a paleo diet include Tim McGraw, Kobe Bryant, and Jessica Biel.
Matt Damon Gets Shredded at 45 for Jason Bourne Series
Damon is no stranger to taking on challenges, not to mention, career-defining roles. However, in his role as Jason Bourne, the fourth movie in the Bourne series, Damon gets absolutely chiseled and looks like he could eat the prior Jason Bourne characters for breakfast.
One look at the knockout punch he delivers in the trailer show you how jacked Damon is!
Damon met Walsh when he signed on to star in Elysium. The director had a vision of Damon looking “lean and mean” with his shirt off. With just weeks to prepare, a shoulder problem, and a back injury, the odds were stacked against him. He found Walsh, who identified the exact issue causing the pain and discomfort. It stemmed from role Damon played years earlier that required him to put on about 30 pounds of fat to play a middle-aged American who eats a lot of fast food. The treatment plan was to strengthen Damon’s upper back which would correct the shoulder problem. Next, he had to fix the back injury by making progress with his mobility and flexibility – but not lose focus of the task on hand of adding strength and making Damon ripped.
The training regimen was four hours daily broken up into two-hour segments. He ended up getting in shape for the movie, which had mixed reviews, and Walsh was now his go-to trainer.
In subsequent movies, Damon was tasked to continue to get lean and keep a shredded body. Many challenges got in his way, however.
In China, preparing for the movie “The Great Wall,” there were very few resources to provide a good workout. Walsh and Damon literally ran through the streets near Mongolia, showing that they would stop at nothing to get Damon into shape.
In an effort to strip fat, here’s a workout done at Walsh’s “Rise Movement” in Los Angeles.
Damon’s workout also includes a lot of single leg exercises as well as high volume pull-ups. Damon did as many as 100 pull-ups in numerous sets, two to three times per week!
As far as the diet Damon was put on, he was only allowed to eat vegetables and protein for “months on end.”
When you talk about celebrities who lost weight fast, you must include Chris Pratt! Pratt was around 300 pounds when he played Andy Dwyer on Parks & Recreation, but in order to get the starring role in Guardians of the Galaxy, he had to lose 60 pounds in just six months!
Working with personal trainer Duffy Gaver along with nutritionist Phil Goglia, Pratt was required to consume 4,000 calories daily while housing water whenever possible. In fact, he drank one ounce of water for every pound he weighed (we talk about the importance of drinking water here), which of course, made him pee all day long. His fitness regimen, which he called “three to four hours per day of getting my ass kicked” consisted of running, swimming, boxing, P90X, and even a triathlon. Perhaps most impressively, after this requirement was met, he continued on the workout path by working out six days weekly with a trainer as he prepares for another role.
Men aren’t the only ones going through ridiculous routines to land a dream role! The woman who played Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot, found herself having a hard time getting jobs. After appearing in three of the Fast and the Furious films, she was required to pack on some muscle for her role as Wonder Woman.
Diet wise, she focused on whole foods and greens.
