How Cutting Carbs Leads to Weight Loss

August 1, 2016 by Shaun Hudson

Carb cutting is one of the latest diet trends that seem to be having a tremendous effect on many people. Many low-carb diets including the Atkins, Paleo, and others are helping people all over the world achieve tremendous weight loss success.  If you have you have to ask if low carb plans work, we urge you to read this page.

Many people have a tough time learning how cutting carbs can actually lead to real lasting weight loss. In an effort to help clear the air, and help the average person learn why this method works, we are going to provide the facts and back them up with real science. This way you’ll understand how the human body can actually metabolize this type of food.

Are you ready to learn the truth? Let’s get into the details right now.

Explaining the Popularity of Cutting Carbs for Weight Loss

There are a couple of different reasons why cutting carbohydrates is an excellent approach to shedding pounds.

First and foremost, one of the more popular reasons is that it has a proven track record as a diet plan that actually works. For decades, many people promoted the low-fat/high carb regimen, and the one thing that we know for sure is that this plan doesn’t actually work. So many people have tried and failed with low-fat high carb. So people have gravitated toward low-carb and have noticed real and lasting success.

For some reason in the US, most people tend to choose one extreme over the other. Either they choose low fat and high carb or they choose a strictly low-carbohydrate, higher fat intake. Avoiding carbohydrates altogether is just as bad as cutting them out of your nutrition completely. You need to find a happy medium in order to achieve the best type of lasting success.

The Biggest Benefits of Going on a Low-Carb Diet

At the end of the day, shedding inches is only one of the major benefits that you’ll experience when going low-carb. The weight loss is an excellent motivator, to say the least, but there are other, possibly even better reasons to consider switching over to this meal plan.

  • Low-carb diets help to lower your appetite – many of us have a tendency to gain in size because we feel hungry all the time. No matter what we do and no matter what we try, we continue to gain mass because we literally feel like we are starving and want to eat 24 hours a day. On a low-carb routine, you are eating ample amounts of food so you do not feel hungry as much as you would when eating the traditional American diet. This is a good thing because it will help you learn how to eat in moderation without going overboard.
  • Cutting carbohydrates is an excellent way to drop pounds – we have already established that cutting carbs will help you lose weight. The good thing to know is that it actually does work and many people have had real-world success with this plan. I personally lost 95 pounds on a low-carb regimen. I eventually gained most of it back when I stopped focusing on it, but it took more than three years before the extra pounds started to make a noticeable difference in my weight.
  • You’ll lose more in the abdomen area when going low-carb – this is mainly great for men looking to lose weight when they are trying to finally get rid of their spare tire once and for all. If you have a lot of excess fat on your abdomen, the best way to help eliminate this fat is to go on a low-carb plan. This visceral fat is also known to lodge around your organs, and this is obviously very unhealthy. So putting yourself on this type of low-carb schedule is going to be a good thing for health and weight loss.
  • Low-carb diets lead to lower triglyceride levels – if you suffer from high triglycerides and high cholesterol, you’re in for a treat. This nutritional plan is actually known to help lower triglyceride levels. By lowering these levels, you will be less susceptible to heart disease, heart attacks, strokes, and more. It may seem counterproductive since you are eating such a high-fat intake. But the proof is in the pudding and the results have shown that triglyceride levels will become lower after you have followed a low-carb diet for a short while.
  • This diet lowers blood sugar levels and requires less insulin from type II diabetics – when you have high blood sugar levels, your body is literally experiencing a state of toxicity. The high carbohydrate diets, unfortunately, lead to high levels of blood sugar. Low-carb, on the other hand, leads to lower blood sugar levels. And the less sugar in your blood, the less insulin you’ll need. If you stick to low-carbs on a regular basis, please tell your doctor because he or she will most likely have to lower your insulin dosage.
  • Low-carb diets and lower blood pressure go hand-in-hand – hypertension and elevated levels of blood pressure are precursors for heart attacks and strokes. By putting yourself on a low-carb plan and sticking to it, you will be able to lower your blood pressure levels and hypertension will become a thing of the past. This is good because not only will you start to feel better, but you’ll also begin to get your numbers in alignment. Before long, your doctor may need to lower your blood pressure medication dosage if you are willing to stick to this type of nutrition plan for the long-term.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are many wonderful benefits to going low-carb. You’ll need less insulin if you are a diabetic. You’ll need less blood pressure medicine if you suffer from hypertension. And best of all, you’ll be able to lose massive amounts of weight. According to many of the people on this meal plan, it is practically effortless, and this is a good thing for those who have struggled with weight problems throughout their lives.
