We provide a lot of tips on this site for dieting and losing weight, but when you look at them in total, they are mostly (if not completely) geared towards shedding pounds around the problem areas. You know what I’m talking about – your waistline, your butt, your thighs, all of the areas that highly noticeable, and pretty stubborn to get rid of excess weight.
However, those are not the only areas where you can have some excess fat that make you feel subconscious. Fat on your cheeks can make your face look big and make it seem like you have gained weight. It can make it tough to find the perfect angle for a selfie that makes you satisfied with how you look.
If you feel a bit embarrassed by a little extra chubbiness in your cheeks, you have come to the right place!
What Ways Can You Lose Cheek Fat?
If you feel like there is nothing that can be done, don’t fret! There are a number of ways to lose cheek fat. As you might guess, however, it won’t happen overnight — no kind of weight loss does! But if you stick with it and follow these tips below, you’ll be on your way to a slimmer face and a much more confident smile!
Lose Body Fat Overall
This first one is a bit obvious, but is also the most effective tip I’ll provide on this page. No matter what you hear, there is no such thing as “spot reducing” fat on your body. You can’t just target one area to lose fat. Fat loss in any one area

of your body is the result of overall body fat reduction.
So it makes sense that if you want to get rid of extra fat in your cheeks, you need to reduce your body fat in general. Cutting down your calories, making your meals consist of healthier food choices and the right macronutrients, upping your physical activity, and adding a diet pill like this one I recommend are all ways to change your body composition for the better.
Drink Plenty of Water
In addition to having a high body fat composition, you may also be carrying a little extra weight in your cheeks because of fluid retention. While it sounds contradictory, fluid retention in your cheeks could be caused by dehydration. When your body feels like it is not getting enough water, it stores water extra fluid almost like an emergency mechanism. One of the areas this water is stored is in the face.
To avoid this, make sure you are staying hydrated. There are differing opinions on how much water you truly need, but a good general rule is to drink at least two liters of water per day.
Cut Down on Salt and Sugar
Just like with the note above about dehydration, consuming too much salt and sugar can also lead to water retention in the facial area. This causes the bloat that makes you look like you have chubby cheeks. While they are probably the two most commonly used spices in any diet, you really only need just a little bit of sodium and sugar in a healthy diet. Try to eliminate sugary and salty foods from your meals and snacks as much as possible.
Show Off That Great Smile!
It requires a number of facial muscles to smile, so be happy and show off that wonderful smile that you have! This provides you a chance to get some exercise for those facial muscles and cut down a little bit on the fat in your cheeks.

While it won’t in and of itself lead to slimmer cheeks, it’s the easiest thing you can do, and it will brighten your day (as well as the day of those around you)!
Jaw Release Exercises
These are exercises that you can perform to stretch the muscles around the cheeks, jaws, and lips and help build more toned and attractive cheekbones. To perform this exercise, sit straight up (or stand) and move your jaw as if you are chewing something. Keep your lips closed as you perform this chewing motion, and take deep breathes in and out (through your nose) as you hum. After that, widely open your mouth and press your tongue against your bottom teeth, hold that for five seconds, and breathe in and out again. This makes one repetition.
Air Blowing Exercises
Along the same vein as the smiling tip above, this is another exercise that works your neck and facial muscles. Some say that this is the best facial exercise if you want to cut down on chubby cheeks and a turkey gobbler neck. It is a natural way to lift and tone the skin in the face and neck areas. To perform this exercise, sit straight up in a chair and tilt your head back so that you are looking at the ceiling. Then, pull in your lips and attempt to blow air through the tightly parsed lips. Continue this for several seconds, relax, and then repeat. You probably (actually, definitely) won’t find this in a workout program as it is not a common area of concern, but if really works!
Eat Healthy and Get More Exercise
This ties back to the first tip provided above, where I said that you need to lose overall body fat if you really want to get rid of those chubby cheeks. The formula for losing fat, of course, is making smarter choices in the kitchen, reducing your calorie intake, and getting more exercise. You would be surprised at how much of a difference losing just a few pounds can make on the chubbiness of your cheeks. It is often one of the first places where fat is lost, as this area does not serve a purpose as fat storage like your gut does (protecting vital organs).
No More Chubby Cheeks!
If you make a commitment to a healthy lifestyle, incorporate some of the exercises explained above, and follow some basic diet tips, your chubby cheeks will be a thing of the past in no time! All it takes is a some discipline and patience and you’ll regain that confidence in your smile once again.
