Alternatives to Protein Bars

June 8, 2018 by Shaun Hudson

The protein bar has many benefits to accompany its usually-good taste, however, some may not be too fond of the taste, nutrients or possibly the average price tag that accompanies buying one. Some people may not see them as the best option due to the high probability of them containing high fat content to go with the high protein content. Nonetheless, it is nothing to worry about considering the numerous amount of other options out there. Down below, we will address some of those options you can consider adding to your diet.

Best Alternatives to Protein Bars

  1. Muscle Milk – If you haven’t already seen the annoying commercials about the stuff, then don’t watch them. Other than that, it’s an expensive alternative to the conventional protein shake. Albeit, if you have the money then it’s something worth purchasing. With 25 grams of protein and 160 calories per drink, it is something that can be quick and easy to grab and consume after a workout with the added benefits of energy restoring attributes.
  2. Peanuts – I can’t tell you how many times I’ve used good ol’ peanuts in the answer to inquiries about protein. With 38 grams of protein in only one cup of the stuff, it’s hard to avoid bringing it up in the “most valuable protein” debate. However, given the massive amount of protein in one cup, unless you would like to have a massive protein block joining the toilet bowl then it would be wise to not go overboard on the peanuts. Nonetheless, crushing the stuff and sprinkling it over your food or dessert is a very good way to keep yourself healthy and full of the muscle-building good stuff.
  3. Protein Shake – Nothing can really beat the good old-fashioned protein powder mixed in with some milk. With some protein shakes skyrocket all the way up to 50 grams of protein per serving, even the most muscle-bound of them all cannot continue without this conventional protein-juicing commodity. The best thing about such a supplement is that there are great possibilities in mixing it with other foods like peanut butter, peanuts, and fruits. Before you know it, you can have one of those gourmet-looking fancy shakes you see man-bun-wearing yoga instructors sipping on in some sandals.
  4. Vienna Sausages – One small can of 7 Vienna sausages packs a protein punch of 12 grams. Flavored in barbeque, hot sauce, original, and more, Vienna sausages are a great treat for just about any occasion or setting. These little guys are ready to eat right out of the tiny little can. And the best part? They only cost you 70 cents at your local Dollar General or Walmart! The versatility of these things is something to be fond of; grab a can of barbecue-flavored sausages, place them inside of some bread slices with some provolone, tomatoes, sprinkled salt and pepper and finally some lettuce, and you’ve got yourself a tasty lunch.

Also, make sure to check out these fruits that promote weight loss.  You may think of fruits and think there is too much sugar, but that often is offset by the good things that fruits offer.

What’s Protein Without Exercise?

In order to put that influx of protein to work, you need to be doing weight training to tear up your muscles and promote growth. Here are a couple of our favorites.
