Before the title begins to terrify you, it is noteworthy to mention that this is not a cruel and drill-Sergeant-unforgiving diet.
What is the Military Diet?
With a promise to lose up to 10 pounds in only 7 days from use of the diet, the routine consists of a very strict and low-calorie intake with foods that may seem unhealthy along with more healthy choices. Following a course of 3 days including breakfast, lunch, and dinner with no snacks (as the diet is only made to last 3 days), the instructions then include a continuation of 4 days to finish the week with a healthy diet.
The diet does not include superfoods such as salmon (one of the healthy fats we list here), almonds or quinoa as it is made of more common choices such as canned tuna, hard-boiled eggs, and cheese. Meals, at times, can include bread as well.

One menu for breakfast requires the consumption of:
- ½ grapefruit
- 1 slice toast
- 2 Tbsp. peanut butter
- 1 cup coffee or tea (no cream or sugar)
- Two hot dogs without buns
- 1 cup of broccoli
- ½ cup of carrots
- ½ cup of bananas
- ½ cup of vanilla ice cream
The diet allows you to consume lots of water (obviously) and black coffee or tea but absolutely no soda, milk, juice or alcohol. It is imperative that you stick to the menu as much as you can though you are allowed to change some food selections based off of your dietary needs and or allergies.
The diet is quite a bit cheaper than many other alternatives which is why it is very attractive to most people.
How Effective is It?
Shedding the pounds with the military diet is not very complicated or difficult to do. The main idea of the diet is centered around what the military usually introduces to new boots that are over-weight, hence the term “the military diet”.
The diet is very effective if done properly alongside exercise, such as with the workout programs we talk about here. After all, it is replicating the administered foods to new recruits in the military who don’t cut it for the needed weight requirements. That being said, you will not achieve the proper weight-loss if you plan on sitting around the whole time. So, if you plan on actually making a serious commitment to shedding the weight and doing what is necessary even if you may not like it, then it would be an un-wasted shot to consume in accordance to the military diet.
People that are overweight tend to spend way too much money on products and services that promise to deliver “magic pill” results (like with those pills reviewed here: https://www.dietpillreviews.com/best-rated-weight-loss-pills/) and conform to their every desire; but in the end, the answer to the problems are not hard to achieve nor come to grips with. This diet is intended to be consumed with a good amount of exercise, which is how it has to be.
Eat healthily and keep on exercising; follow these rules and you will be well on your way in reaching your weight loss goals.
