What Weight is Ideal For Your Body?

July 19, 2016 by Shaun Hudson

Have you ever wondered what the ideal body weight for you is supposed to be?  In today’s weight loss tip we’ll talk about how you should think about your ideal weight.

Everyone is different. The ideal body weight for one person will be totally different than the ideal body weight of their best friend, family members, and other people in their community. Determining the right body weight is never the easiest task to accomplish. But there are many wonderful tools that you can use online to figure out how much you should weigh.

Are you struggling to lose weight? And even more important, are you struggling to figure out how much weight you need to lose in order to maintain a healthy body weight? This is the question on many people’s minds right now. We really need to take this problem seriously since so many of us are overweight. And we really need to figure out the ideal weight for the average person so that we can finally live healthy lives once again.

Everyone’s ideal body weight is different from one another.

How to Determine Your Ideal Body Weight

Well, there are a couple of different ways to figure out precisely how much you should way. One of the major things that need to be taken into consideration is your height.

You see, medical doctors and scientists have determined a specific weight range for those of a certain height. They use a BMI (body mass index) calculator to figure out how much a person should weigh based on their age, height, and one or two other factors.

Plus, losing weight is only one part of the problem. You actually have to get your body fat percentage below a certain level as well. If you lose a lot of weight and it turns out to be mostly muscle mass, you’ll be really unhealthy and by losing the wrong type of weight.

The best thing to do if you are struggling to figure out how much you should weigh is to go online and locate a BMI calculator. When using the BMI calculator please insert all the required information and then have it calculate the weight range that you should be in.

As an example, a 5’10” man approximately 40 years in age should weigh between 155 pounds to 175 pounds. Many people would feel that weighing so little would be unhealthy. But science and medicine determined that this is the proper ideal body weight for a man of this height.

Again, instead of trying to reinvent the wheel and figure out your ideal body weight on your own, you should definitely begin using a BMI calculator to your advantage. Not only will the tell you how much weight you need to lose, but it will also tell you your body mass index, whether you are obese or overweight, and other valuable information that you can use to help motivate you to lose weight faster and healthier.

How to Determine Ideal Body Fat

As we have discussed earlier, reaching your ideal weight is only one part of the problem. You also have to reach your ideal body fat levels in order to become healthy once again. Ultimately, there are a number of factors that go into determining the perfect body fat percentage for adult men and women. You need to speak with a qualified medical practitioner to take everything into account correctly.

A quick way to determine your body fat percentages is actually very easy. For adult men, it is recommended that they maintain 12% to 16% body fat or less. For adult women, it is recommended that they maintain body fat percentages between 10% to 13% or less.

As you can see, the body fat percentages vary depending on whether you are a male or female. Other factors will come into play as well including whether or not you are active, your height, your bone structure, and other potential variables. But try your best not to worry about the other factors because they’ll make it harder for you to determine your ideal body fat over the long run.

As mentioned earlier, if you are really serious about figuring out your ideal body fat percentages, it’s highly recommended that you schedule an appointment with a doctor or qualified weight loss expert. They will be able to help you figure out how much weight you should lose, the ideal body fat percentage you should maintain, and other important things that will make it easier for you to lose weight and maintain it.

Best Way to Achieve Ideal Body Weight

At the end of the day, determining the best way to achieve your ideal body weight comes down to a wide variety of factors. You have to get to know yourself better as a human being in order to figure out the ideal diet for your personal situation.

As an example, maybe you’ve considered going on a low-carb diet to lose weight. But because you are an animal lover and gave up eating meat a long time ago, going on a low-carb diet will never be the easiest thing to accomplish for a person with your belief system.

In this situation, this person might be better off going on a low-fat, high carb vegan diet instead. This type of diet requires that a person never eat animal products of any kind. Not only does it fit in with this person’s philosophy, but it’s also an excellent way to lose weight and maintain the weight loss without compromising their beliefs.  You should also drink plenty of water when you do this, as it’ll help you remain full.

Another example might be that a person suffers from a medical condition like diabetes. In that case, they’d be much better off going on a low-carb diet even if they would rather avoid eating meat and other substances containing saturated fat.

As you can see, everyone’s personal situation is going to be different. You have to really pay close attention to your beliefs, your health, and any other factors that might play a role in the type of diet that you choose to finally lose weight.

Meal Plans to Reach Your Desired Weight

At the end of the day, reaching your ideal body weight is certainly possible. But you have to take everything mentioned today into account and then start a dedicated weight loss meal plan that you can stick to over the long run, as well as an exercise routine to burn calories in order to reach your goals.
